Coming from a family of uncut males, I would never cut any of my sons.  Proper cleaning from birth and shown at a young age how to take care of the foreskin when bathing you shouldn't have any problems.

I had to contribute to this topic, because when I was pregnant with my son, I consulted this page. I needed to find a way to convince my husband that we shouldn't circumcise our son. I never wanted to. Here's why:

1) I prefer uncut. I would NEVER tell Michael this, but my first boyfriend was uncut, and I loved it. Uncut has always looked... well... mutilated, which brings me to-

2) Cutting off the clitoral hood would also  make the vulva easier to clean and would slightly reduce risk of disease and infection, but IT'S GENITAL MUTILATION! Why would everyone want to do something to their sons they would never do to their daughters? It's extraordinarily painful, it removes a lot of sensation, and it looks gross and painful and can lead to crookedness, deformation or stunted growth (my last ex was a "leaner" from a botched circ).

Recently an American lady friend of mine asked me if I could clarify a word for her. She had read on you site, an English expression  (Bellender). So just to clarify to all.

All men have a bellend, gland on end of penis.

However the (er) added to the end of the word indicates that the penis is circumcised.

This word is not used in a nice way. It is derogatory an insult, used to belittle, to make feel inferior  i.e. You've got a bellender. Meaning your gland is exposed, ugly and deformed youre not a whole man (or boy).

Personally I am not into foreskin. Though I have noted that if you are with a partner with a small penis but still has his foreskin attached sex is better then if it had not been. Circumcision in the UK was popular up to the late 1940s amongst both working and middle classes since it was regarded as a precaution against illness and subsequent expensive medication or hospitalization. Then, in 1947, the National Health Service was introduced in the UK and as a result everyone had access to state-funded medicine. The financial pressures to take certain precautionary measures like male circumcision began to fade. Only 6% of newborn males in the UK are now circumcised, mainly for religious reasons, compared to 60% in the 1940s.

Born in the 1930s my first husband was fully cut, as is my second husband, who was born in the early 1940s.
